Sikhs in valley hosts Iftar to spread communal harmony

Bangla Hunt,Pallab Ghosh: In an initiative to spread communal harmony and promote brotherhood between Sikh-Muslim community,
the Kashmir Sikh Education and Charitable Trust (KSECT) hosted a Iftar party at Hotel Raddison in Srinagar.

The Iftar party which was attended by a large number of people from all waljs of life was a part of celebrations of 550th birth anniversary of Sri Guru Nanak Devji.

Baldev Singh Raina, Chairman KSECT, on this auspecious occassion stressed on the need to promote communal harmony and restore the spirit of brotherhood anong people and such occassions help to bridge the gap which was unthinkable in the past. He said KSECT also plans to hold more such programmes. Recalling the earlier days Raina said, “In Kashmir, we have fought all odds together and will continue to do so in the future. In this long history of Kashmir, we have always found the Sikh community standing firm for the spirit of Kashmiriyat and brotherhood”. In it’s initiative to spread the messagd of Gurbani, KSECT is organising a seminar on Kashmiriyat at Kashmir University next month.

Among those who graced the occassion includes Muhammad Dilawar Mir, former MLA Yawar Dilawar Mir, Justice (Retd) Hasnain Masoodi, former ministers Syed Altaf Bukhari, HoD Medicine SKIMS Prof (Dr) Parvez Kaul and member PHD Chamber Kashmir-Chapter Vicky Shaw, NC leaders Nasir Aslam Wani, Nazir Gurezi, Shammi Oberoi and Farooq Shah, BJP leader Khalid Jehangir.

The muslim community complimented the KSECT for the initiative to spread brotherhood amkng the two communities.
