Shame! Payel Rohatgi for supporting ‘Sati’ system and condeming ‘social reformers’ like Raja Ram Mohun Roy and likes.
Before going into the story there are a few points that needs to be replied…
Who is Payel Payel Rohatgi?
Is she worth mentioning leave aside ‘trolling’?
Is she aware of ‘Sati’ system?
Is she aware of the plight of women in India during 17th and 18th century?
Is she educated enough to question Raja Ram Mohun Roy?
The most important question of all – Is she humane? Perhaps the answer is No. Had she been ‘humane’ then Payel Rohatgi would have used her senses before posting such a post which actually exposes her ‘ignorance’ towards the ‘historical’ facts. She has crossed all level of ‘audacity’ by calling Raja Ram Mohun Roy a ‘chamcha’ (yes mam) of Britishers. She may feel pride by exhibiting her ‘scanty’ knowledge of history by saying ‘sati pratha was not imposed on women’.
This shows Payel’s height of ignorance..
Women in those days were forcibly pushed on the pyre of her husband and to cover the hyteria and screams, people would play dhol and shout in praise of Sati’. Being a women herself, Payel Rohatgi says ‘sati’ ststem was not a sin or curse. Perhaps for her walking on the pyre alive is as exciting as catwalk on ramp.
The social media is abuzz with users condemning this lady for her cheap remarks on Raja Ram Mohun Roy and supporting Sati system. Many have also tagged their posts with Mumbai Police marking it as an anti-national remark.
Payel Rohatgi must be told that this is not attracting the camera glare at Big Boss or any cheap TV chat show. When one dares to open mouth over such ‘sensitive’ issue, one must have adequate knowledge, education, home work on historical facts. The least one can do is to take her through classrooms and made to study the history books.
