In a special gesture, the Google Doodle has honoured legendary Bollywood actor and theatreperson Amrish Puri on his 87th birth anniversary. An versatile actor Puri, was born in Punjab in 1932. He made his debut much earlier but came to prominence in Hum Panch (1980).
He has played numerous charecters in over 400-films though mostly villain. Apart from Bollywood, Puri has acted in regional languages – Marathi, Kannada, Punjabi, Malayalam, Telugu, Tamil, and English. Before films Puri had worked on stage with noted playwrights like Girish Karnad and Satyadev Dubey.
His famous dialogue from Mr. India – “Mogambo Khush Hua” became a catchline that many advertisements during 90’s coppied the cult style of his dialogue representation and had encashed on his baritone voice. Puri has also left his mark in a few period films that brought him international acclaim.
Puri had surprised all with his comic charecter in Chachi 420 remake of Hollywood hit Mrs. Doughtfire.
