” eder shahosh aamaar gaari r shamne eshey Jai Sri Ram bolchey, era bairer, Bengal r noi…” So much audacity that they shout Jai Sri Ram slogan in front of my car, they are outsiders…not from Bengal…” These were the words of Trinamool supremo and West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee who was on his way to Naihati to attend a protest meeting and lost her temper when a group of BJP workers shouted ‘Jai Sri Ram’ slogan.
Banerjee got down from her car and threatened the BJP workers chanting the slogan to come forward.
However, political pundits see her remark of “outsiders” as a drastic change after defeat in polls. Former Delhi chief minister Sheila Dixit had once called people from Uttar Pradesh, Bihar etc. as outsiders and had lost the votes of these people that constitutes a big number in the capital.
However, Mamata Banerjee had always welcomed Hindi speaking people in her state but after the ‘pathetic’ defeat in polls she finds those supporting BJP are not from or within Bengal.
Pity! Mamata Banerjee has forfotten that it was she who brought the BJP in Bengal.
