The doctors strike enters sixthday. The patients are at the mercy of God. Those who have come from suburbs to consult doctors are the worst affected as they have no option but to stay on the pavements. Several patients are hoping agaist hope that the next day will be better for them as the steikes tomorrow will be better and the strike will be called off but in-vain. The situation at these hospitals are only turning worst increasing the plight of helpless patients.
On Saturday, in Midnapore disyrict of West Bengal, a child died. The family members have blamed the striking doctors for not attending the child past three days. Few more cases of death have been reported from state.
On Saturday, inspite of Dr. Santanu Sen, National President, Indian Medical Association (IMA) asking the junior doctors to meet the chief minister at Nabanna, the arrogant doctors did not turn up. Dr. Sen said strikes or such protests are no solution to an issue and only talks can resolve. However, he appreheded a section of non-medical fraternity are fanning the aggitation and are creating things worst. Perhaps, they have found a new interest by sitting jn protest and attract camera glare. They call themselves ‘saviours’ but have no concern for their patients who are left to die.
Many on Social Media are seen changing status or posting in support of these arrogant doctors. These sypthesiers have also squarely blamed West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee and even feel ashamed of stying in Bengal. Some are finding it hard to eschew they belong from Bengal. Perhaps the few months and years outside Bengal have suddenly help them realise their association with the state was a curse. Pity! These pseudo sympathisers have spent their entire life in Bengal.
The manner in which doctors are behaving, one finds it hard to differentiate them with the those putting up hording and banners in front of collages, factories driven by various political parties. These doctors have forgotten that patients look at them as Gods and they will be squarely responsible for the death of patients.
